The ‘Mostra del Mercato del Tartufo Bianco e Nero del Mugello’ (Mugello White and Black Truffle Market Exhibition), now in its 27th edition, will be held in the historical centre of Borgo San Lorenzo on the weekend of 16 and 17 November. This is a rich market exhibition dedicated to the promotion of the local truffle, flanked by tastings and scientific disclosures.
The Borgo San Lorenzo market exhibition aims to promote this typical Mugello product. The ‘basket’ of Mugello products is in fact rich and varied, no doubt about it, but the truffle is certainly one of the spearheads of the valley's gastronomic offerings.
Experts know: the quality of the white truffle that is produced in the vocated lands of Mugello is very high, and has nothing to envy to that of other renowned areas in Italy.
The event will see the historic centre of Borgo San Lorenzo as its beating heart: Piazza Garibaldi will in fact be the fulcrum of the event, with the presence of the stand of the Associazione Tartufai del Mugello (Mugello Truffle Hunters' Association), which will offer local truffles for sale and provide information on this highly prized local product. In the streets of the historic centre, there will then be exhibition spaces for food and wine products, in particular those of Mugello farms that will offer the fruits of autumn, a particularly rich month in Mugello. And finally, during the days of the event, an agreement with bars and restaurants in the historic centre will allow visitors to taste snacks and dishes based on the local truffle. During the two days, there will also be events that will tell the world of truffles, such as two demonstrations with truffle dogs, which will be held at 10.30 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the bridge over the Sieve, in one of the controlled truffle grounds managed by the Mugello Truffle Hunters' Association, easily accessible to all. And in the afternoon, the demonstration will be open to anyone with a truffle dog. Finally, on both Saturday and Sunday, street artists will perform in the streets of the historic centre.
