Each year, Mugello welcomes the arrival of the warm season with two events that blend art, tradition, and community spirit: the Infiorata in Scarperia, “Un filo di…” in Barberino di Mugello anche Fiorinfiera in Borgo San Lorenzo.

In Scarperia, on the last Sunday of May, the town transforms into a carpet of colors and scents. The streets and squares of the historic center are decorated with floral artworks—mainly made from carnation petals—carefully prepared by citizens, shopkeepers, and students. Each year’s Infiorata follows a different theme, but the artisanal process remains the same: the designs are first sketched in chalk, then covered with glue, and finally adorned with flower petals. The result is an open-air museum where nature becomes art.

In June, Barberino di Mugello comes alive with “Un filo di…”, a colorful urban knitting event that takes over the entire town center. From dawn to dusk, the village is dressed in yarn creations, crochet, and embroidery, thanks to the creativity of many enthusiasts. Yarn installations appear in piazzas, along the pedestrian Corso Bartolomeo Corsini, and even on the Church of San Silvestro, creating a joyful and unexpected visual experience.

Two unique yet complementary ways to celebrate beauty, craftsmanship, and local identity - through flowers, threads, and a shared passion.

Fiorinfiera held each spring, this acclaimed plant and flower fair transforms Piazza Dante’s monument gardens and the town center into a sprawling outdoor garden. Around 50 exhibitors showcase ornamental plants, garden tools, and local produce, alongside artisan markets, street food, art installations, and botanical workshops.
