The MEDITERRANEAN as a soul: coasts, memories, and identity at Spazio Brizzolari. A group exhibition that transforms the sea into a metaphor: a sensory journey through light, water, and land, from May 2nd to 17th. The Mediterranean is more than just a geography. It is a shared memory, an identity layered over the centuries, an interior landscape even before a physical one. It is from this awareness that "Mediterranean. Geographies of the Soul" takes shape, a group exhibition opening Saturday, May 2nd at 5:00 PM at Spazio Brizzolari in Scarperia and San Piero. More than a simple exhibition, the show is structured as a choral narrative capable of traversing real and interior landscapes. The works on display convey the chromatic and sensorial richness of this universe: sun-drenched coasts, villages suspended in time, water reflections, and infinite horizons coexist on the walls like fragments of a single, grand narrative. The Sea as Metaphor The underlying theme of the entire exhibition is the sea: not as a picturesque subject, but as a living metaphor. A meeting place for civilizations, a crossroads of ancient histories, the Mediterranean also becomes an emotional and spiritual dimension in the works on display—a place where identity is formed and transformed. "Light—warm, enveloping, vibrant—becomes a central narrative element, capable of transforming every scene into an experience at once intimate and universal." The exhibition invites the viewer to be guided by visual suggestions to rediscover a profound connection with nature and the cultural roots of Southern Europe. Not a nostalgic gaze, but an active rediscovery: art as a tool for connecting people, places, and emotions. Art, food, and territory: a multi-voiced dialogue. The opening on May 2nd will be a moment of encounter and celebration, enriched by the participation of food and wine excellences, including Apulia Excellence. The presence of wine. The Southern Italy is not simply a side dish: it is an integral part of the discourse on Mediterranean identity, underscoring how art does not exist in isolation, but in dialogue with the territory and its traditions. The exhibition is part of a broader cultural project aimed at promoting art as a tool for connection, offering the public a space for contemplation and discovery. Marco Paoli is artistic director; Maria Pia Iurlaro is in charge of organization. Free admission.
