Two initiatives on 25 April to talk about resistance in Mugello
Back for the third year is the resistHER sporting and cultural event promoted by Bikeboobs Asd Aps and dedicated to memory, liberation, freedom, resistance and anti-fascism on the occasion of the 25 April celebrations.
This year the event grows and joins forces, involving the 4 municipalities of the Mugello valley, the 3 ANPI of Borgo San Lorenzo, Barberino di Mugello, Vicchio and the 10 Settembre Committee of San Piero a Sieve, in addition to the ProLoco of San Piero and the active and constant support of the Libreria Capitolo 7 of Barberino di Mugello.
The resistHER event is divided into two moments. A pedal ride on Sunday 13 April aimed at exploring the Mugello territory from the point of view of the historical events linked to the resistance that characterised it. A pedal ride, therefore, which will include stops at plaques and memorial stones located in urban and suburban areas with moments of explanation and contextualisation by ANPI and Committees.
The second appointment is instead for Thursday 24 April with an evening in the library at Capitolo 7 in Barberino di Mugello, where these same stories will be taken up again and explored in depth with a focus on the theme of liberation, the 80th anniversary of which falls this year, and freedom.

The detailed programme
SUNDAY 13th APRIL - RESISTANT PEDALLING
A pedal ride to pass on the memory of the resistance in Mugello in the 80th year of the liberation.
- 9:30 a.m. MEETING POINT Piazza Colonna, San Piero a Sieve (FI).
- 10:00 AM URBAN PEDALADE DEPARTURE
A ride through the streets of San Piero a Sieve promoted by the 10 September Committee that will touch some symbolic places, monuments and plaques. Open to all and everyone with any type of bike. Helmet strongly recommended. - From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. SPORTY CYCLING Between San Piero a Sieve and Galliano with stops at memorial stones and plaques.
Loop tour of approximately 25 km and 350 D+.
Open to MTB, EBIKE, GRAVEL.
- The ride is non-competitive and open to Bikeboobs ASD APS members.
- You can register on site on the morning of the event.
- A valid sports medical certificate (including non-competitive) for highly demanding cardiovascular sports is required.
- A valid medical certificate for cardiovascular sports is required, to be presented on the morning of the event if not submitted previously.
- Helmet and lights are mandatory for all*.
- Duration approx. 5 hours, packed lunch recommended.
- In the event of bad weather, the ride will be postponed.
THURSDAY 24th APRIL - EVENING IN THE BOOKSHOP
A meeting to tell stories of local resistance and talk about freedom in the 80th year of liberation.
