Mugellandia Chapter 2: Trekking & Forchetting from Scarperia to Sant'Agata, Music Museum, Palazzo dei Vicari.
Scarperia
Medieval settlement with the function of protecting the communication routes between Florence and Bologna. Famous above all for its cutlery artisans, today Scarperia is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, surrounded by gentle hills, with a charming old town centre and a beautiful Palazzo dei Vicari.
The Palazzo dei Vicari
An important building from a historical and artistic point of view. Inside, you can admire frescoes depicting the close ties with Florence and the Museo del Ferri Taglienti. The visit is optional but highly recommended.
Sant'Agata
A micro-village of medieval origin built around the beautiful Romanesque parish church. Here, time seems to have stood still, preserving the charm and fascination of an undefined era. Today it is a favourite stopping place for walkers on the Via degli Dei.
Ufo Club (Music Museum)
An incredible private collection with vinyl covers of the greatest artists in the history of Italian and international music, autographs, posters, curiosities, antique sound reproduction instruments and splendid 1950s and 1960s juke boxes. Not to be missed
FORCHETTING
With all due respect to the walker's canonical diet bars, we like to eat, preferably well and typically! So we thought of a cheap and good set-menu lunch in the characteristic and lively Osteriola di Sant'Agata.
Menu: Tortelli Mugellani (stuffed with potatoes) al Ragù, Water, Wine.
WHAT WE WILL DO
The experience will begin at 10.30 a.m. from Piazza dei Vicari. The first stop will be a surprise gastronomic one, then we will begin our light trek through the rolling green hills of Mugello to reach Sant'Agata, where we will stop for our ‘Forchetting’ and to visit the Pieve and the Museum of Music. Then we return to Scarperia and those who wish can also visit the Palazzo dei Vicari and admire the sunset from the Tower.
