MODERNITY AND ROOTS by and with Pietro Dreoni

This short journey is proposed, which will unwind between readings of poems and sung pieces, and which will have as its leitmotif the relationship between Modernity and roots
Roots and modernity, in the common imagination, are often perceived as opposing, antithetical concepts, as if the existence of one had the power to limit the other, if not actually deny it. If ‘Modernity’ offers itself to be used as a synonym for ‘present’, ‘progress’, ‘dynamism’ (somehow associating itself with the dimension of ‘life’ and ‘light’), the word ‘Root’ easily runs the risk of being flattened on the concepts of ‘past’, ‘tradition’, ‘static’; hence, the step towards negative and trivialising meanings such as obscurantism, up to ‘darkness’, ‘gloom’, ‘death’ is short.
We are therefore proposing, through poetry, prose and music, a journey backwards along a double track: first of all in time, so that we will move from the present to the past; in parallel, also in light, from brightness to darkness, from bright, dazzling, blinding day to a twilight dimension, where light fades to become mysterious, secret night, thus somehow ancient.
Our wish is to rediscover, together with you, the indissoluble unity of present and past, of light and darkness, as necessary and founding elements of a full awareness of oneself and the world, and to reaffirm the importance of ‘Know thyself’ as a very topical requirement and an unavoidable goal for a complete and free existence.

Alleria is a group of five artists, four musicians and a singer united by a passion: the sound of Pino Daniele. During the show, the best known pieces and those a little more niche will be performed. It is not easy to re-propose this kind of music; Pino Daniele's musicians are among the most talented on the musical scene. The group ALLERIA is composed of:
