From February 22 to March 9, Federico Vigorito presents his solo photography exhibition “SOLO - Family Portraits”
Vernissage Saturday, February 22 at 5:30 PM
The project arises from the desire to explore the condition of isolation not as a mere social deprivation, but as an opportunity for introspection and self-knowledge that it offers us.
We live in an hyper-connected world, where interaction is constant, forced, superficial, and distrustful; I thought to investigate loneliness as a voluntary refuge, as a place of detachment (in the sense of distancing) from oneself.
Isolation understood as space. A confined space. A space of silence and detachment. The isolation imagined: made into an image.
I use the camera as a tool of creation. In this way, photography, the resulting image, is not a witness to an existing reality, but rather the result of a simulatory act meant to stimulate thought.
Somehow creating an image that makes us ask what is happening inside the frame, what thought is silenced in a mute image?
For this reason, the shots were taken on a theatrical stage, the place par excellence for reconstructed action. Those who observe the shot are now its spectators.
The subjects photographed do not know each other, but when seen together, they give the impression, simulate being all members of the same family; for everyone, including the spectators, this is as far from the idea of loneliness as possible.
For everyone, the original nucleus of the first escape towards oneself.
