On May 19th, the motorcycle event DGR will take place in Piazza del Popolo in Borgo S. Lorenzo
The DGR (The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride) brings together classic and vintage style motorcyclists from around the world to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research.
The event will take place on May 19th worldwide. In Italy, it will be hosted in over 50 cities, including Borgo S. Lorenzo in Mugello. Since 2012, the event has been hosted in 121 countries worldwide and has raised over $45 million for prostate cancer research.
The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride was founded in Sydney, Australia, by Mark Hawwa. It was inspired by a photo of Don Draper, the protagonist of Mad Men, riding a classic motorcycle in his best suit. Mark decided that a themed motorcycle ride would be a great way to combat the often negative stereotype of motorcyclists and, at the same time, connect exclusive motorcycle communities.
Movember supports the initiative globally, and Triumph sponsors it.
Michelangelo Longo and Filippo Giustini are the licensees of the event in Mugello for the 2024 edition. The meeting point for motorcyclists will be on Sunday, May 19th, at 10:00 AM in Piazza del Popolo in Borgo San Lorenzo. A short 15 km tour in the hills of Mugello is planned until reaching the historic center of Scarperia, where participants can park their motorcycles and visit the town.
