The Ensemble Camerata de' Bardi will perform at Palazzo dei Vicari
The concert, organized by the Borghigiana Association with the participation of the Regional Council of Tuscany is titled "Annunciation New Year".
The instrumental ensemble consists of Roberta Malavolti Landi on baroque violin, her sister Sabrina on soprano, alto, and tenor recorders, Andrea Benucci on theorbo, lute, and baroque guitar, Martina Weber on vielle and viola da gamba, and Marco Muzzati on percussion. The music presented is related to the works celebrating the Annunciation kept in Palazzo dei Vicari, in the Old Propositura, and in the Oratory of Madonna dei Terremoti; therefore, we will discover the masterpieces of Filippo Lippi, Giovanni Balducci known as Il Coscia, Tommaso Cordelli. The intention is to enhance the celebrations in memory of the civil year which, until the decree issued in 1749 by Grand Duke Francesco III of Lorraine, began on March 25, the day of the Incarnation and the Annunciation of the Archangel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary, nine months before the birth of Jesus.
We will listen to the music of Vincenzo Galilei, father of the famous astronomer, also a lutenist of the Medici Signoria, as well as all those Italian and European composers of the sixteenth century who were commissioned to compose music for festivals, those serene and joyful music of sacred and profane celebrations of Italian courts, from Gasparo Zannetti to Michael Praetorius, to Fabritio Caroso, to Diego Ortiz, just to name a few. Galliards, Allemandes, Rondos, Pavanes, Intradas, Renaissance Voltes "to be played with all kinds of instruments" will resonate in Palazzo dei Vicari to celebrate the Florentine New Year.
The concert promotes the Florentine civil tradition, enhancing our territory of Mugello, with the rediscovery of the most significant artistic, pictorial, and musical works related to this Catholic holiday. Free admission for all citizens.
