A Stroll through History in Sant’Agata
At the foot of the Tusco-Romagnolo Apennines, beneath the ancient pass of Osteria Bruciata, lies a small village where time seems to flow slowly, and where everything tells the story of a rich past.
The village is situated along an ancient Etruscan and medieval road, and its structure, still remarkably original, is among the best-preserved in all of Mugello. Even more remarkable is the Romanesque parish church, perfectly maintained, simple in structure yet imposing and rich in decorative details dating back to the Roman era.
During the day, we will explore this small corner of Tuscany, visit the Archaeological Documentation Center (entrance fee €5.00), enjoy lunch with panoramic views of Mugello, and finally discover the fascinating reconstruction of Sant’Agata in the small Leprino Museum!
- Meeting Point: 10:00 AM - Sant’Agata (Florence).
- Conducted and accompanied by Environmental Hiking Guides: Filippo Bravetti.
- Trail Characteristics: Approx. 6 km Elevation gain: 200 m ascent Trail type: rural and scenic route. Paved road, forest track, and trail. Physical Difficulty: Easy.
- Children Participation: Ages 5 and up, if accustomed to walking.
- Dogs on leash: Yes, on a leash.
- Food and beverages: Packed lunch and sufficient water (at least 1 liter).
- Required Equipment: hiking shoes, season-appropriate clothing, and windproof attire. Recommended Equipment: trekking poles.
- Registration Fee: €20.00 adults, 1 child free per adult, each additional child €5.00. Those who are not yet members of L’Erba Canta must subscribe to the membership card for €10.00 (adults only). All detailed information will be provided after the reservation confirmation.
- Cancellation Policy: The excursion will be confirmed on April 3, upon receipt of all confirmations and confirmation of suitable weather for the day. The guides reserve the right to cancel the excursion if weather conditions do not allow for the normal and enjoyable course of the day.
