Excursion in the Muccione Valley with Final Barbecue
The Saturday of the Village ... of Vicchio: 4 steps on 4 mountains!
These are a series of excursions organized in collaboration with the Pro-Loco of Vicchio to promote and make known our beloved territory.
We will climb to the slopes of Monte Gattaia to discover the abandoned mine and station of Fornello. A suggestive journey where the traces of man and nature embrace, allowing us to fully breathe in the history of a lost time, along with the spring scents of the forest. Our background music will be the flow of the Muccione river and who knows, perhaps even the whistle of a distant train. After the excursion, for those who want to deepen their knowledge of the territory from a culinary point of view, we will light the fire to grill some delicious local sausages. Of course, for vegetarians, we offer a valid alternative. The contribution for the eventual lunch is €10.
For organizational reasons, please book by Friday morning at the latest.
- MEETING POINT: at 8:30 AM at the headquarters of the Pro-Loco of Vicchio in Piazza Giotto n. 4 (right in front of the church).We will take cars to reach the village of Gattaia (about a 10-minute drive away), from where the path for our excursion will start.
- ENVIRONMENTAL HIKING GUIDE: Marianna Sonni authorized under L.R.86/2016 and subsequent amendments.
- LENGTH OF THE ROUTE: 9 km
- ALTITUDE DIFFERENCE: 350 m.
- DIFFICULTY: easy.
- RETURN: around 3:30 PM
- LUNCH: you can have lunch by the Muccione river with: bread, bruschetta with olive oil, grilled sausages, wine, and a small dessert for a contribution of €10. Vegetarian alternative: bread, bruschetta with olive oil, cheese and pears, grilled vegetables. In any case, bring 1.5 liters of water for the hike.
- PARTICIPATION FEE: €15 for adults, €8 for children under 12.
- CLOTHING: suitable hiking clothing is recommended, wind jacket, and hiking boots are required.
- DOGS: of course, but they must be kept on a leash.
