GoticaLaVia offers an excursion to the Passo del Giogo from another perspective: A ring that starts and arrives at the Passo in the direction of Monticelli, one of the two hills together with the Altuzzo, including the road of the Passo del Giogo (today SP 503). Two hills, both 900 meters high, which were the scene of the breakthrough of the Gothic Line. At the end of the walk there will be a guided tour of the Museum of the Gothic Line (mugot) about 10 minutes by car (6 km).
Monticelli tells us about the breakthrough of the Gothic Line on the west side of the Passo del Giogo. Here you can see a bunker, that of Cold Spring (in reconstruction and excavation), and the trenches cleaned and visible, as well as a blanket that was used to move troops to shelter. From two deviations on paths, you can get to the Monticelli positions, still visible, dotted with craters of shots and individual holes of soldiers, and you can review the embankment where American companies found shelter.
