Three-day historical-naturalistic itinerary departing from the Crespino del Lamone station, a small town a few kilometers from Marradi, located along the old railway line that connects Florence to Faenza on the Romagna side.
Path program
Day 1 - September 17, 2021 Leg: from Crespino del Lamone to the Castellonchio refuge, km 21.8 with an altitude difference of 800 m From the village we begin to climb until we reach the maximum altitudes on the panoramic ridges of the Apennines, crossing beech woods and old chestnut groves, mountain pastures and old, now semi-abandoned villages. Around mid-afternoon we plan to arrive at the Castellonchio refuge located just above the Mugello plain near Grezzano, where we will have dinner and overnight.
Day 2 - September 18, 2021 Leg: from Castellonchio to the convent of Monte Senario, 25.7 km with an altitude difference of 800 m We will cross the plain to Borgo San Lorenzo, then after crossing the Sieve river we begin to climb to arrive, through mixed forests of deciduous oaks, farms and ancient welcoming places, to the convent of Monte Senario where we will stay and dine in the structure adjacent to the old burraia. Day 3 - September 19, 2021 Leg: from Monte Senario to Fiesole, 17.5 km with 550 m of difference in height We will travel a part of the last section of the Via degli Dei through the summit meadows around Bivigliano, Olmo and Poggio Pratone where we will detour to intercept the via di Stilicone which will lead us on a path halfway up the Mugnone up to Fiesole around the hour. of lunch.
