The seventeenth edition of the "Antonio Berti Prize" Sculpture Symposium has opened in the Party Area of the Berti Park in San Piero a Sieve, an event that will continue until 25 September, when it will end with the announcement of the winners. A few days in advance, Kumiko Suzuki had begun to work, who in the 2007 edition created the work Idratato, winner of the Popular Jury Prize and located in Piazza Colonna, committed to creating his work of the Dante project, this year's theme which marks the anniversary of the great poet. From Monday the sculptors are instead engaged, followed by Professors Antonio Di Tommaso and Francesco Roviello, who compete for the Prize: Abdulkadir Hocaoğlu 28 years from Istanbul; Claudia Zanaga, 28 years old from Padua; Donald Sufka, 28, from Albania; Giovanni Mezzetti, 23, from Poggibonsi; Lin Zhipeng, 30-year-old Chinese and Greta Fila, 26, from Trieste. For them, in addition to the demanding work on the stone blocks they are modeling according to their projects, there are also important meetings and experiences. Above all that of mid-week when, accompanied by Prof. Francesco Roviello professor of the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, the artists visited the extraction basin of Brento Sanico. Conclusion, as mentioned, on Saturday 25th at 4.30 pm with the awarding of the winning work of the Antonio Berti Prize. On this occasion, a photographic exhibition will be set up on the Firenzuola quarries and the Project Path among the Stone Sculptures will be presented. Access for the public is obviously free. The event, promoted by the Proloco di San Piero a Sieve, with the active participation and patronage of the Municipality of Scarperia and San Piero, that of Firenzuola and the Mountain Union of Municipalities of Mugello and the collaboration of the Tuscany Region, the Metropolitan City of Florence, the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence and that of Carrara and the Antonio Berti Foundation for Sculpture, also sees the involvement of the Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze which financed the symposium project and the path related to it .
