The calendar is full of events, and there are numerous collateral initiatives to the festivities: the restoration and fitting out of the ground floor of the presbytery, to house a multifunctional space used as a small museum and venue for exhibitions, book presentations and small concerts; a print run of engravings depicting the parish church, donated by Maestro Raffaello Margheri; a commemorative plate, made by Borgo San Lorenzo ceramist Alice Gori, inspired by decorations of 15th-century ceramic fragments found under the church floor during the restoration work in the 1970s.
Of no less importance is the beautiful stone bas-relief, donated by the Associazione Scalpellini di Firenzuola, depicting St John the Baptist and the tenia decorations on the main portal of the parish church. For the occasion, the volume ‘Cornacchiaia una millenaria Pieve dell'Alpe Fiorentina’ (Cornacchiaia, a thousand-year-old parish church of the Alpe Fiorentina) was printed by the Region of Tuscany. It contains the degree thesis by Sonia Franchini entitled La Pieve di Cornacchiaia dal 1500 al 1700, and the transcription of the Chronicon of Don Stefano Casini, parish priest from 1885 to 1908, edited by Sergio Moncelli.
A number of conferences on the history, architecture and art of Cornacchiaia and its village have been scheduled, with talks by scholars of the history of the area such as: Marco Pinelli, Giuseppina Carla Romby, Riccardo Nencini, Franco Cardini and Filippo Bellandi. There will be numerous concerts, including those of the Ambrosiana Chorale of Milan, the San Francesco Chorale of Prato, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and, of course, our Mulieris Voces, which will animate the solemn Masses at the beginning and end of the festivities. The Zeta Archive will put on an exclusive show for the Millennium. There will also be theatre performances, exhibitions and book presentations. The Comitato Ambiente e Territorio per Firenzuola (Environment and Territory Committee for Firenzuola) will arrange and mark the Sentiero dei Tabernacoli (Path of Tabernacles), an interesting route around the parish church. Some days will be dedicated to sports activities and games for children and young people.
