The theme is the podesteria in the Medici principality
- At the Giotto Theatre Saturday 7 December at 16.30
The cycle of meetings ‘Vicchio Terra Nuova del Mugello’ promoted as part of the celebrations of the 700th anniversary of the foundation of Vicchio comes to an end. The last meeting entitled ‘The Modern Age. Vicchio, una comunità e una podesteria nel principato mediceo', organised by Dr. Alessandro Lo Bartolo, will be held on Saturday, 7 December at 4.30 p.m. at the Giotto Theatre.
It will examine the presence and role of Vicchio within the broader history of the Medici principality in the modern age, between the 16th and 18th centuries, adopting a political-institutional perspective. In particular, the focus will be on the status of ‘community’ and ‘podesteria’ in order to follow the lines of continuity and fracture that can be found in this sphere. A long-term look will be taken at the events of an ancient ‘land’ of the Florentine countryside in an era of change for Tuscany.
A toast will follow to close the cycle of meetings.
