THE 36th BRIGADE GARIBALDI BIANCONCINI
GoticaLaVia offers a ring (E) Medium difficulty hiking trail and dirt road, short stretches of paved road, in the Valle del Rio Rovigo in the Upper Mugello on the border with Romagna. It’s the first of two stages of paths through history, values and nature with the stories of the battles of the Partisan Resistance in this area.
In the summer of 1944 about 400 Partisans settled in the wild Rovigo Valley bordered to the east by the Fellone and Acuto mountains and to the west dominated by 1182 meters of Mount Carzolano. The area affected, the scene of sabotage on the above Gothic Line and armed struggles of the 36th Partisan Brigade Garibaldi Bianconcini, was called for this "The Republic of Carzolano".
