An exceptional and special initiative
Four exclusive guided tours through the Palace of the Vicars of Scarperia with the exhibition "I Medici: gente del Mugello. Family portraits from the Uffizi Galleries" and the Castle of Cafaggiolo, which will open exceptionally for this occasion, in the municipality of Barberino di Mugello.
The exhibition "I Medici: gente del Mugello" organized in collaboration with the Uffizi Galleries in the Palazzo dei Vicari di Scarperia, wants to evoke the long and significant Medici presence in the countryside and in the towns of Mugello that knows moments of particular evidence in the villas of Trebbio and Cafaggiolo and in sacred buildings such as the convent of Bosco ai Frati. And while the Trebbio was a safe haven for the family of Giovanni delle Bande Nere and his young son Cosimo, the residence of Cafaggiolo was particularly appreciated by the Medici dukes and grand dukes and their illustrious guests for the noble activity of hunting.
For this reason a collaboration has been created for a historical-artistic itinerary that, starting from the exhibition of the Palazzo dei Vicari, arrives at the villa of Cafaggiolo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and prototype of villa living in the early Renaissance. Visitors will be accompanied by Professor Romby, director of the Museum of Sharp Irons of Scarperia.
