Among the most famous novels by Vasco Pratolini, The girls of San Frediano are a sort of modern fairy tale, whose events unfold between piazza del Carmine, Piazza Pitti, le Cascine, S. Croce, Cestello, Ponte alla Carraia, via della Vigna , Porta S. Frediano, via Pisana, Borgo Stella, via del Leone, via del Campuccio, piazza Piattellina, via Maggio… A cinematographic fresco of a district of a city that becomes the true protagonist of the story. The girls to whom Pratolini dedicates the novel are a group of young women who decide to make a mockery of the neighborhood heartthrob, at a time when rebelling against the abuses of men was really difficult. And it is precisely from this spirit and from this so evocative title that the three Florentine artists, Anna Meacci, Daniela Morozzi and Chiara Riondino, decided to leave again, for a tribute to the city and to the female universe which, despite its strengths and weaknesses, he always has the ability to find new ways even in the most complicated moments. The idea of the show was born precisely in the period of the closure of the theaters, when the three created a real tour in front of the theaters that immediately aroused the interest of the public.
