07th/06 - MONTE LAVANE: LA CAPANNA DEL PARTIGIANO E GLI EVENTI DELL’ESTATE 1944

Sunday, 07 June 2026

Guided visit, excursion,workshop

The hike will begin in Campigno, a small hamlet in the municipality of Marradi (Florence), known for being a frequent visitor to the poet Dino Campana, to whom a splendid refuge is dedicated, located along our route. Our destination will be Mount Lavane (1,241 meters above sea level), which in the summer of 1944 was the site of the battle of the same name. The legendary Corbari Band fought valiantly against Nazi-Fascist troops to defend the supplies and weapons that had arrived there via airdrop from the Allies. The Allied supply depot later became the Partisan's Hut, a bivouac we will visit on our route, where some of the Corbari Group's fighters sacrificed themselves. These and other events will be recounted as we walk along a trail through a splendid and lush natural setting, rich in beech and chestnut trees.
