“ I DIACCI” MOUNTAIN REFUGE AND CAMP is located at 941 meters above sea level, and is deep in the green beech groves of the Mugello high lands on the ridges of the Apennine mountains dividing Tuscany and Romagna. Near the Sambuca mountain pass, it is a perfect stop for lovers of trekking, mountain bikes, and horseback riding. The Rovigo River, running nearby, with its ancient mill and its waterfalls is an enchanting destination both in winter and in summer. The refuge is inside a Tuscan forests regional park and offers an uncontaminated natural environment, interesting for both its scenery and its fauna. In our mountains it is easy to observe in safety wild fallow deer, roe deer, hawks, eagles, and night predators and to follow the trail of wolves. The refuge is connected with many well-marked mountain paths such as the CAI, S.O.F.T. and the GEA. The structure itself was made from an ancient barn and offers the night’s stay in two rooms containing 22 beds total. It has an equipped kitchen and 2 bathrooms with showers. Outside you can enjoy the shade of a fir wood and a large barbeque is available for use. It is possible to use the nearby camp for stay in tents. Upon request the management can organize excursions and environmental education trips with guides. It is open everyday in July and August, from September to june on reservation.
