The Faentina railway line offers us both the chance to get to know two great artistic cities, Florence and Ravenna, and to spend a relaxing time in the Mugello and Lamone valleys, where the uncontaminated, highly suggestive landscapes offer the tourist numerous itineraries to be enjoyed on foot, by bike and by bus. This vast territory – contained in the park “Le Terre di Dante” – embraces both Tuscany and Emilia Romagna. The presence of the great author, Dante Alighieri, is, in fact, everywhere; this is where he lived, suffered, and found inspiration for many pages of his “canti”; this is where he evoked the famous characters that occupy, today, a place in history and our collective memory.
750 years from the birth of the Poet (Florence, 1265), and 700 from his death (Ravenna, 1321), the Faentina railway line gives us the opportunity to discover the poet through the landscapes and territory that were once his. It is a rich land, full of tradition and culture, where his famous characters came to life, where they lived and breathed through his words, where they loved and suffered.
