The castle which was constructed around the year 1000 as a defensive fortress became the centre of Nipozzano in 1400 after the enlarging of the adjacent villa.
Today the castle houses the cellars where the aristocratic red wines of the estate resistant to a long preservation are refined in barrique.
The farm has over 600 hectares of land, 184 of which are vineyards and 75 are olive groves.
