B&B, Hotels and Farm Holidays in Vicchio

Vicchio in Mugello near Florence
The first settlements in the territory of Vicchio go back to the Etruscans, as evidenced in the various archeological finds throughout the area.
The first urban nucleus, Vico, later turned into Vicchio, goes back to the end of the 1200s. A few years later the walls around the town were built around the town and a larger area around the buildings. The fortified village thus came under the control of the Florentine Republic and begun a period of strong development.
Vicchio became the seat of the Podesteria, suppressed in 1838 when it went under Borgo San Lorenzo's administrative control.
In Vespignano, a fraction of the town of Vicchio, one can visit the house where Giotto was born. Today, it is a small museum dedicated to the famous artist.
