B&B, Hotels and Farm Holidays in Scarperia

Scarperia in Mugello near Florence
The Florentine Republic started the construction of Scarperia at the start of the 14th century after the defeat of the Ubaldini family, historically the ruling dynasty in the Mugello valley. The village was erected on a place known as "la scarperia" or the feet of the Apennine mountain range.
In 1400, Scarperia became the Vicarage seat. Thanks to its strategic position along the Giogo road that connect Florence to the Emilia region and to nothern Italy, Scarperia's commercial activities developed quickly. From the second half of the 18th century, as new roadways were developed through the mountains, the city was tied off from larger commercial developments.
