Firenzuola near Florence
In the 12th century, Firenzuola was completely surrounded by thick walls of the castle built by the Florentine Republic. The castle walls have disappeared through the passage of time, but the two main gates into the town are still standing, Porta Fiorentina and Porta Bolognese.
