The first document that mentions Rufina is a Papal Seal of Gregory VIII in 1076. It was the property of the Lords Guidi of Pomela. Only after the first half of the 19th century the real inhabited centre was found near the bridge on the torrent Rufina. A remarkable wine production has developed on the hills surrounding the inhabited centre thanks to ancient families such as the Albizi and the Frescobaldi.
