The railway station is at Contea, a fraction of the Commune of Londa three kilometers away. Londa is of Etruscan origin and it has been inhabited since the 6th century B.C.. After, it has also been a Roman village and towards the year one thousand it became the dominion of the Lords Guidi that had the first group of buildings constructed on an islet at the confluece of the river Rincine with the Moscia: the village was called Isola (island), then L’onda (the wave) and finally Londa.
